Hey guys! Here is a quick tribute compilation that was inspired by my fellow gearheads online! These guys are all about straight line racing, from both a standstill and rolling starts. In my opinion rolling starts truly show the straight line acceleration prowess of each individual vehicle as it avoids fancy launch control technologies that give many AWD TECH giants (GT-R, 911 Turbo, Etc) the edge off the line.
Now as many know I am a Porschaphile, so here are a few videos side by side drag races of a few flagship 911 Variants. The premiss of these races is a rolling start anywhere from 50 KP/H to upwards of 300 KP/H. Note that many of these races involve Manual Transmission vs Sequential Automated Manuals (AKA F1 inspired gear changes) which significantly increases the acceleration times of every single modern day vehicle equipped with one. Manuals truly are obsolete when it comes to performance and efficiency. Needless to say when a manual car defeats it’s superior cousin, it’s very impressive.
Some of the notable cars included are:
Porsche 911 Turbo (997 and 991 variants)
Porsche 911 GT2 RS (997)
Porsche 911 GT3 RS
Audi R8 V8
Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C6)
Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4
Ferrari 458 Speciale
Let me start with a story, true story……sad story.
In town there is a 1997 Porsche 911 Turbo, the desirable 993 generation, all original, accident free and mint condition with 14000 KM on the clock. Do yourself a favor and google image this car, inside and out, then google search, let’s say a 2007 911 Turbo………let’s just say 10 years has revolutionized the 911 and has made all old cars completely outdated in every way shape or form……or did it? The story continues at part 2 muah ha ha!!
Remember back in the day when us nerdy folks (myself included) used to watch Captain Kirk and his crew of the starship enterprise (We’re talking William Shatner Kirk) and think to ourselves “WOW if only we had those technologies in real life it would make things so much easier”. The most classic example are these handheld gadgets, ridiculously high tech, that can show a live image of another human being from thousands of miles away and that you can talk to, and miraculously they can hear your voice and talk back to you!!!! OMG that’s just insane people. I believe in the show they called these “communicators” today they are known as IPhones, Galaxy Note/S, Android, etc etc. Here is a great link to some other Trekkie Realities that came true, it’s a great read :
When it comes to comparing high powered cars against each other, there are no better YouTube channels than the boys at M5board and dragtimesinfo.
They both perform their races in different ways, to be more specific M5board uses rolling starts from 50 KPH and dragtimes prefers the off the line approach where technology such as launch control and human driving skill greatly effect the outcome of the race.
I myself and a bigger fan of M5baord for the simple fact that it eliminates silly technologies such as launch control and pits car against each other with raw power/weight/transmission determine what car is supreme in straight line performance. We are not just talking 50-150 we are talking 50-300 KPH races! Here are a couple of my favourite M5board races, starting with two of the most modern hyper cars in 2014 the Ferrari F12 and Lamborghini Aventador:
It’s a bit embarrassing but needless to say I just want people to realize just how passionate I really am and just how much I truly care about my love for the car world.
I used a 10 megapixel digital camera, duct tape to keep the camera relatively still (you can hear the tape try to hold the camera during accelerations haha!!) and no script. Just a night with a mazdaspeed3 and my love for cars.
So listen up!! If any amateurs out there love to film and make car videos call me!! I think with a bit of script and practice it would be a fun little adventure! Enjoy my passion, and I really appreciate the views. I know it’s kinda lame but so what.
For the Women….I mean car lover….ahhhh whatever just watch this and enjoy.
Ok people, let’s start talking about something that matters. The biggest misconception for the average buyer (even those who think they are well informed) is that the newest vehicle, with the least amount of miles for a specific price range is the most important thing when it comes to getting the best car for their money. That’s the stupidest, biggest bull %&!@ thing I have ever heard and to all those out there who don’t care about the time they wasted at their careers to earn their hard earned income only to be spent on garbage, ignore this post all together and send me hate mail. (seems rhetorical, I think most people care about the time and effort they spent to make money).
To those who actually care, please read on and simply hear me out. Or to make things easier go and read my “You paid 50000$ for your Ford?!?! Should have bought that Porsche” post. Sure I use “50000$” and “Porsche” which may scare people, but that’s far from the point I am trying to make. The point is that cars are the biggest depreciating assets out there and people should be taking advantage of this by getting themselves the best of the best for whatever they have to spend, and for most buyers 10000$ is very reasonable, easy to finance, and also a great dollar figure to work with period.
